Mobile Photo Series

Symbols and signs

In this series I present 10 street photographs, all candid, in which geometry of light and shadows prevails in the composition. Almost like a continuation of the new Bauhaus style, the conductive thread of the series are underexpositions and high contrast lighting, in which the subjects wander in a continuous search of light. Beyond documentary issues, I prefer to focus on expressing emotions and moods through the use of light, giving certain mystery to routine scenes of daily life. I am currently living in Madrid, but I come from Pola de Siero, a beautiful little village in Asturias, in north of Spain. When I came to Madrid, I noticed that solitude, stress and alienation of the big cities, which I found really interesting and impelled me to go out to explore and take photos. This process helped me to get to know the city and get myself adapted to this new environment. I was naturally approaching this type of photography, without having any reference to previous photographic currents. I simply liked this aesthetic and it was the kind of photography that best suited the type of emotions that I wanted to express in the photos and that has defined my style of photography. The pictures of this series were taken with iPhone (6 and 6S) between 2014 and 2016 in Madrid, Toledo, Seville and Oviedo.
