Persian New Year, called Bayram, is the start of the new day for the ethnic Azerbaijanians living in Georgia. Their New Year comes with the Spring and it’s celebrated with the feast of traditional dishes and a wide range of rituals, which continues for 4 or 5 days. In 2010 the Persian New Year (Bayram) was officially declared as an international holiday by the General Assembly of the UN. Also in 2009 the celebration became the UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. It’s considered to be the living treasure of the humanity.
