Kezhma. Angara Album
This photo series is a tribute to the historic village of Kezhma—a once large and thriving settlement on the banks of the Angara River in Siberia, founded as early as the 17th century. With the onset of industrialization and the construction of the Boguchanskaya Hydroelectric Power Station, Kezhma’s fate was sealed: in 2012, the village was doomed to be submerged.
The photographs capture the final years of this unique place, documenting not only the architectural remains and landscapes but also conveying an atmosphere filled with quiet sorrow and nostalgia for a bygone era. Each frame tells the story of a disappearing cultural heritage, emphasizing both the tragedy of loss and the beauty of fleeting moments preserved in the memories of its residents. The series invites viewers to reflect on the inevitability of change and the value of remembering places that once served as home for entire generations.
