Nestan Abdushelishvili

Vardobistve (May)

Curator: Mariam Tsikaridze

The show focuses on the concept of caring and research of its multidimensionality where this notion is manifested through individual and collective representations. The photos explore the entire spectrum of care ranging from indifference to an excessive one, care for animals and humans, care as a form of relationship with the environment, others, and oneself. A prominent place is devoted to the phenomenon of individual alienation and lack of empathy, presence of indifference and care in the utilitarian chaos of the modern world. The artist touches upon the instinctive, maternal nature of caring and the mysticism of caring for others.

The exhibition combines landscapes, portraits, still lives, static and moving images, flowers, and people, abandoned sculptures that are transformed by weather and environment. This collection of works openly demonstrates the artist's flow of thought.

Nestan Abdushelishvili (born in 1989) lives and works in Tbilisi.

Her works focus on experimental photography where the artist’s interest evolves around both the working process and the use of varied materials while printing that leads to eventual processing of available results into the objects.
