"Russia will be free"- the fragility and strength of Moscow protests

Moscow protests of 2019-2021 are increasingly described from the gender perspective. Despite official statistics confirming the “traditional” prevalence of males - for example, according to “Dozhd” TV channel, about 36% of all protestors who took part in the authorized rally on August 10th were women, publicly the “face” of this summer’s campaigns is getting more and more clearly recognized as female. It is hard to say whether the number of women demanding justice and transparency of decisions at the top of the “vertical of power” has risen, but the fact that their activity is growing and changing its nature is obvious. The combination of the fragility and strength, the contrast and, at the same time, the naturalness of the tension between these qualities trigger a powerful resonance. The project"Rusia will be free!" portrays women who, understanding all the possible risks, decide to leave their homes and join the rallies.
