Selections from the International Meeting Place at America´s best festival for contemporary photography and visual media. Personal highlights picked by Teona Gogichaishvili and Manfred Zollner during FotoFest´s Portfolio Reviews in 2022.

Every two years, the portfolio reviews at Houston´s international Meeting Place are connecting photographers and gallerists, curators, publishers, editors from all over the world. Over 400 artists and 150 professionals working in the field of photography are gathering here. These reviews are generating such a huge global draw, that five-day events are organized in three to four consecutive sessions, with different reviewers as well as photographers. Whereas portfolio reviews for photographers have not been invented at Houston´s FotoFest (that happened many decades ago in the courtyard of a gracious French hotel, during the Rencontres d´Arles), Houston is where they got structured and well organized in a professional way. Here, during the opening days of the famous FotoFest bi-annual festival, reviewers are coming to see, judge and sometimes select photojournalistic work, outstanding portrait photography just as well as other up and coming fine art photography. This reputable event is attracting photographers from the US, just as well as from far away places like South Korea, China or Brasil. Teona Gogichaishvili and Manfred Zollner, the curators of this exhibition, have both been attending the Houston reviews several times in the past and are presenting a personal selection of outstanding work during Session Two of FotoFest´s Meeting Place in 2022, the most recent edition. Casting a light to the diversity of the excellent work presented there. Work, that will be spreading to international venues and publishing  houses all over the world in the years to come.
