Photobook Workshop
Max. Participants: 12
Working Language: Georgian / English
Duration: 4 hours Starting time: May 4th, 2025, 11:30
Description
A photobook is a self-contained work
of art in the form of a book, in which individual photographs become part of a
whole, creating a visual narrative and telling a story. This is what
differentiates it from the photo album, which merely showcases photographs or
series of photographs.
During the workshop we will explore how, in different photobooks, elements
like image selection and sequencing, spread composition and layout dramaturgy,
book format, design and typography, as well as paper choice, printing and
binding – all contribute to shaping a unified work of art.
After the introduction, six participants will have opportunity to present their photographed material. We will look closely at your images and work on concept development, photo selection, image sequencing, and visual narration, helping to form a clearer understanding of your photobook project.
For Whom
The workshop is aimed at both aspiring and professional photographers who wish to develop a photobook. No previous experience with photobooks is required. Basic working knowledge of the English language is expected.
What you Need
Participants need to bring
photographed material that they would like to develop into a photobook. Please
print your images, regular color laser print on plain paper, no fine art prints
necessary. Print 4 to 8 images per A4 page and cut them to size. Keep in mind
to bring much more material than the actual book will need, so that there is
enough to select from. Bring any additional material you may have for your
project.
